Heather Birchall: Heather Birchall currently works as Curator of Historic Fine Art at the Whitworth Art Gallery, University of Manchester. Previously she worked in the curatorial department at Tate Britain, and at the V&A, where she built a specialist knowledge of Victorian painting and photography.

Laura Mansfield: Laura Mansfield is a writer and researcher based in the North West. She studied Art History at Bristol University before completing an MA in Cultural and Critical Studies at Birkbeck College, University of London. Mansfield recently researched and wrote ‘The Guide to Public Collections of Art in the UK’ for the Contemporary Art Society’s centenary year, 2010, and is developing the symposium ‘Art School Alternatives’ with Derek Horton for Corridor8 Magazine as part of Liverpool Biennial events programme 2010. Mansfield is currently curating a weekend festival of visual art, performance and music with Swen Steinhauser. Taking the title ‘The Doers, The Drifters and The Dreamers’ the weekend looks to explore ideas of work, labour and play.
